Johnny Walker Blue Label is the First “Smart” Bottle

Diageo and Thinfilm have created an NFC (Near Field Communication) thin label that supplies information when in contact with a smartphone or NFC reader. This allows the manufacturer to see where in the supply line the specific bottle is and allows consumers to receive promotional offers & cocktail recipes when they scan the label. The smart label also increases security by keeping track of whether the bottle has been opened and can change the information provided once the seal has broke.
